Aspiring engineers are in a fix as the entrance
tests to favoured courses in two reputed institutions in the
country are being conducted on the same day. Candidates who wish to
take the entrance tests to both the Vellore Institute of
Technology (VIT) and the Indian
Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) have to choose for one of the two institutions
because both tests are to be held on April 16, 2011.
Expressing his dismay to The Times of India, K Sridhar, parent of 16-year-old twins, said "IIST and VIT are both premier institutions. With the increasing competition in the Science stream, students who have opted for computer science in classes 11 and 12, will definitely want to take both exams. However, with the dates clashing, they are forced to make a choice."
Such a clash in dates has happened before and the dates were later changed. In such a scenario, more students are likely to take VIT as the number of seats in this institute is more than that in IIST.
Such a clash in dates has happened before and the dates were later changed. In order to avoid confusion, many students and parents have sent e-mails to the respective institutions asking if one of them could change the dates, but the authorities have refused saying that arrangements had already been made.
These authorities claim that all preparations have been made and hence it is impossible for them to change these dates.
